Customer relationship management (CRM) software, is used to track and manage interactions with your customers and potential customers.

CRM capabilities

As a minimum, to be included in this category, each system must include a basic database of contacts. This is a low threshold, but for some small businesses this is all they need.

However, we'd also expect a true CRM system to include some categorisation mechanism and a record of interactions with each contact—what we've called "relationship management" capabilities.

Sales-focused CRMs will also include lead management features, such as sales pipelines, email automations and Kanban-style management tools.
